Robins

Robins are adorable birds native to much of North America and live in most states year round. I had the unforgettable experience of raising two baby Robins when I was 12. We lived out in the country and I found them under a tree. I don't know what happened to their mother. I raised them feeding them cat food soaked in water to make it mushy, and fed them with tweezers. They were so sweet. I cried when I had to set them free once they were old enough to fly off.

Robins are seen across lawns everywhere, standing beautifully in the grass, on a fence or in a tree surveying the land around them.

Robins are known for their "red breast" which is usually an orangey reddish-brown. They also have lovely light colored circles outlining their eyes, pretty grayish-brown backs and wings, and a fairly good size bill.

Robins eat worms, and seed which makes them omnivores, meaning they eat plants(seed) and meat, and are fairly diurnal, which means they are mostly awake during daylight.

Robins are song birds, and their singing voice is one I love! They are cheery, and just wonderful to listen too, as they project the sound of nature and make you think of fun days outside with your family, quiet reading under a tree or laying in a hammock. The good times. I took the photos in this article of a beautiful Robin who was in the park with us, and the Robin sat there for a long time just checking things out even though it was cold and windy.

Robins are beautiful birds that I am happy we share the Earth with!
